Terry O'Neill Award 2013 Winners Announced

The winners of the prestigious Terry O’Neill Awards 2013 were announced at an awards ceremony at The Strand Gallery earlier this week.  The judges selected the winners from the ten shortlisters selected previously. The resuts are as follows:

Overall Winner 2013: Laura Boushnak – I Read I Write: Yemen-Access to Education  (Portraiture)
First Runner-up: Javier Acenillas - Red Note  (Reportage)
Second Runner-up: Claudia Moroni - Anima Animus (Portraiture)
Mobile Device Winner: Richard Gray - the person opposite (Portraiture)

The remaining  shortlisters were as follows:
Paul Thompson – Moonlighting  (Landscape)
Alnis Stakle - Not Even Something  (Landscape)
Miichel Hagege – Anthropomorphism  (Wildlife)
Nick Ballon - Ezekiel 36:36 (Documentary)
Maria Szabova - Here I am  (Portraiture)
Neville Peterson - Not just a Backwater  (Fine Art)
Commenting on this year’s entries chair of the judges, Jon Jones, Director of Photography, Sunday Times Magazine commented: “The entries to the Award this year were impressive and the diverse themes, quality and maturity of the entries this year made the judging a real pleasure. It is satisfying to see the depth and diversity of talent the Award attracts.”

Terry O'Neill continues: "I am delighted that all our judges for 2013 have committed to continue in this role for 2014; and excited that the 2014 Award will launch at The NEC Photography Show in March."
Next year’s 2014 Award will launch at the Photography Show at Birmingham NEC, which is taking place 1st – 5th March 2014 where there will be a Q & A panel of several of the judges providing valuable insight and guidance to photographers planning to enter for 2014.
