There is Here – Photographs by Avi Gupta, Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts, Norwich

Metro is delighted to have been responsible for mounting and finishing a large selection of prints for Avi Gupta’s forthcoming exhibition, There Is Here. The 37 prints in varying sizes from large 60” x 40” images to much smaller prints under 17”, have been shipped from the US and our finishing team have mounted the prints onto Dibond which have then been matt sealed.

There is Here, is Avi Gupta’s debut UK exhibition and has been commissioned for the launch of Next Modern, the new contemporary art programme at the Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts in Norwich. This exhibition represents a series of domestic images shot in private residences in Washington DC and Kolkata, India, focusing on ordinary objects which represent everyday living. The poetic images, despite being devoid of people are somehow filled with a human presence and give the impression that something has or is just about to happen.

Avi Gupta’s is a US based working photojournalist whose exhibition works range from photography and video to installation and performance, his images have been published in The Washington Post, The New York Times, The Washington Times, and The New Yorker. His work has been heavily influenced by the experiences growing up in a Benghali community in the Washington area after his parents emigrated from India.
