Metro at the Hereford Photography Festival
28th October - 26th November 2011

Metro was delighted to be part of the debate over the launch weekend of the twenty-first annual Hereford Photography Festival. Joining a panel of artists with festival Co-curator Simon Bainbridge, editor of The British Journal of Photography, Metro’s Steve Macleod discussed the festival’s theme: Movement.

This year’s exciting programme features Time & Motion Studies: New documentary photography beyond the decisive moment at Hereford Museum & Art Gallery. An impressive selection of international photographers is represented, including Vanessa Winship, recent recipient of the Henri Cartier Bresson award, and her partner George Georgiou, currently exhibiting at the Museum of Modern Art in New York.

Time & Motion Studies presents each photographer’s practice as the result of deliberate and sustained observation – a methodology by which to transcribe and communicate ideas about the world, tackling subjects that aren’t always obviously photogenic.

Metro’s Steve Macleod said, “ We really enjoyed printing some of these incredible images – there is a tremendous amount of satisfaction in supporting the work of such interesting and relevant photographers. To be part of contemporary debate is what makes it worthwhile.”

This is the biggest and most ambitious Hereford Photography Festival to date, with a fascinating programme of exhibitions and events, we strongly recommend you make the time to visit before it ends on the 26th November.
