Metro is very pleased to be able to offer sponsorship support to two young London based artists Daniel Regan and Agata Cardoso in a striking portrait exhibition. “Uncovered’ displays arresting images of people who have been affected by Alopecia and Breast Cancer and challenges people’s perception of body image. Metro have produced all twenty images, ten 30” x 30” prints and ten 20”x30”, printed and mounted onto foamboard.
Daniel focuses his attention on ten brave men, women and children suffering from the hair loss condition Alopecia, capturing a series of intimate and stunning black and white images portraying the different stages of alopecia. Alopecia UK, the charity set up to provide support to hair loss sufferers has backed Daniel in this exhibition. Daniel commented, “I wanted to challenge the traditional images portrayed surrounding body image in today’s society and at the same time empower people with Alopecia”.
Agata a fine artist, focuses on portraits of women affected by breast cancer. Agata explains; “We live in a culture that worships youth and an idealized beauty – we are not used to being confronted with physical disfigurement which is a reality for women who have had breast cancer. All the women that I have photographed have come to terms with their bodies and have learned to accept them and love them - something that I find incredible and inspirational.”.
