Metro sponsors inaugural London Photo Art Fair

01 May 2013
Metro is delighted to be supporting the inaugural Photo Art Fair taking place in London this month. We are involved on many levels producing prints in addition to mounting and framing images for many featured photographers. Black & white prints have been produced for Bertil Nilsson, Mary Scanlon, Will McBride, Gavin Watson and Marlene Marino; C type prints for Vinca Peterson and Denis O'Regan and Giclée prints for Joey L.  Metro is also one of the sponsoring partners of the event and our very own Creative Director, Steve Macleod has been heavily involved in curating this exciting four-day exhibition.

The fair is showcasing the work of 50 established and up-and-coming photographers from around the world, connecting photographers with established and potential collectors. Photo Art Fair’s central manifesto of ‘intelligent collecting’ has an open call to exceptional collectible photographic art with the work spanning decades, territories and disciplines. As well as hundred of works available at the fair there is also an online gallery catering for international collectors and enthusiasts.

Susie Babchick one of the event curators comments, ‘There are around 50,000 photographers in the UK and many of them are unrepresented by a gallery. The Photo Art Fair will create an inclusive and democratic platform for emerging talent. This is sure to attract both novice and expert buyers alike; exchanges like this don’t come to town very often.’ She concludes, ‘The project will not only support a wider understanding of photography, but will also benefit a large variety of people and promote a dynamic interaction of photography within the arts.’

The event will also feature panel discussions, focusing on current debates surrounding contemporary photography; talks by photographers revealing stories and inspirations behind their work; workshops on how to collect intelligently and Q & A sessions from some of the most established and talented experts in their field.
