Metro is pleased to announce that we are the print sponsor for a one-of-a-kind photo competition in conjunction with Yelp, one of the largest local review websites in the world and The Society Club, Soho.
We all know a fantastic photograph is no longer all about the quality of the equipment or the experience of the photographer; it’s about that specific moment in time when something special is captured, often nowadays on something as simple as a smartphone.
Yelp have launched the competition asking ‘What does Soho mean to you?’ ‘Is there more to it than stylish shops and quirky cafes?’ ‘What makes Soho so cool, so vogue, so flippin' ace?” They simply want photos taken within Soho, of anything– Soho literally is your oyster!
"You no longer have to be a professional photographer to capture an amazing moment," according to Alex Shebar, London community manager for Yelp. "People are snapping pics of London life daily and we want to share them with more than just their friends. We want the whole city to see them."
The competition is free to enter, submissions will be judged by a professional panel and the best entries will be hung in a special exhibition in The Society Club. All shortlisted entrants will be invited to a VIP launch party for the exhibition where the overall winner will be announced.
