Now in it’s fourth year Metro is delighted once again to be a sponsor for Portrait Salon 2014, providing mounting
for all the prints featured in the exhibition. This year for the first time the Portrait Salon exhibition will tour the UK from November through to February 2015.
Founded in 2011 Portrait Salon recognises the rejected works from the National Portrait Gallery Photographic Portrait Prize (NPGPPP)
which takes place annually and is one of the most prestigious photography prizes in the world. Attracting in excess of 5400 entrants last year only 60 images were chosen for the exhibition - Portrait Salon seeks to show the best of the rest.
Portrait Salon will open for submissions on 14th August, once the NPG have sent out their rejection emails. Images can be submitted digitally, at no cost, via the Portrait Salon website until 21st September. The selection is made in October and the launch takes place on 6th November.
This year’s selection panel include Christiane Monarchi (editor of Photomonitor
), Emma Taylor (Creative Advice Network
), and photographer Martin Usbourne (Hoxton Mini Press
The new publication and projection on 6th November will launch at Four Corners (London) and in Brighton in association with Miniclick. The print exhibition will also open at White Cloth Gallery Leeds on the same date and then tour.
