Metro has recently been involved in a unique project with Time Inc. UK, publishers of the TV Times, scanning
over 75 images for two new prestigious limited edition art collections. The collections include original publication covers and never-before-seen images from the 60’s which will be on view at a one-off, pop-up exhibition in London this week.
The first Drawn Ink, is a collection of Giclée prints
of the finest comic book illustrations from the publisher's archives including classic titles Lion, Valiant, Tiger, Champion and Knockout who at their height of popularity reached well over a million readers each week.
The TV Times Archive features some never-before-seen
portraits and on-set images of music, entertainment and sport stars from the 60’s including Peter Sellers
, Woody Allen
, Liza Minnelli
, The Beatles
, Bobby Moore
and Diana Rigg
The black and white fibre photographic prints
for the TV Times Archive were part of an exciting cache of long-forgotten negatives discovered earlier this year inside boxes at the British Film Institute
(BFI) in London. Captured during a shoot at Granada Studios in December 1965 images of the Beatles are among around half a million newly discovered negatives shot by photographers for TV Times magazine including images by the famed fashion photographer Helmut Newton
