Metro is excited to be working with artists Nick Knight, Gavin Turk, Mark Power and Jo Coles, who have been commissioned along with other internationals artists by the Hospital Rooms Art project and South West London and St George’s Mental Health NHS Trust (SWLSTG) to refurbish the Phoenix Unit, a secure psychiatric rehabilitation residential ward for up to 18 patients with a diagnosis of schizophrenia at Springfield University Hospital in Tooting.
Hospital Rooms is a new initiative co-founded by curator Niamh White and artist Tim A Shaw, which is committed to installing museum quality artwork in mental health wards in NHS hospitals in the UK. Metro is producing Direct to Media prints
and Vinyl panels
for this launch project which will be installed at the Phoenix Unit in May 2016 with ongoing workshops continuing until December 2016.

, Jo Coles, Michael O’Reilly, Aimée Parrott and Tim A Shaw along with winners of the 2015 Turner Prize Assemble
and Acconci Studio, a renowned architecture and public space collective. Landscape architect Jon Bates will also rejuvenate the courtyard and outdoor areas.
The artists have been allocated individual spaces in which to create new, aesthetically pleasing and thought provoking artworks or installations which go beyond a picture on a wall, working collaboratively with the consultants, clinicians, occupational therapists and patients based in the Phoenix Unit.
