Hidden: England’s Invisible Young Carers by Max Alexander

18 February 2015
Metro is delighted to support ‘Hidden: England’s Invisible Young Carers’, a compelling new exhibition by award winning photographer Max Alexander, currently showing at the Oxo Gallery.

With personal experience of being a young carer, Max Alexander tells the story of some of the 166,000 young carers in England through a collection of compelling portraits.  Featured alongside their stories is a montage of photos taken by the young carers themselves that typically represent "a day in the life" of a young carer across the country. Exploring the challenges they face the exhibition captures their resilience, determination and dreams for the future.

The exhibition, for which Metro was delighted to produce and mount C-type prints, is led by The Children’s Society and part of The Big Lottery funded Young Carers in Focus programme (YCiF).  It provides a rare insight into the responsibility of providing physical, emotional and practical care for a loved one, highlighting the pressure on a person’s well-being and education.
YCiF will be supporting young carers themselves to help curate the exhibition.
