Lightboxes

Metro are proud to have been at the forefront of developing a solution for artists looking for slimline lightboxes for exhibitions and interiors. Lightboxes have long been a favourite of artists looking to appropriate the dramatic effect of a illuminated images but until now lightboxes were restricted in size, light spread and weight by cumbersome florescent tubing that required deep profiles for cooling.

Now with the developments in energy efficient LED technology, light is available in sheets rather than tubes, creating new possibilities for lightbox size, weight, design and most importantly, colour accuracy.

As the only photographic printers in the UK offering colour accurate Kodak Duratrans prints up to 72” wide, Metro have responded to this opportunity with a new lightbox service. Joining forces with LED technologists, Lite House, and Dyson Art Framers, we have developed lightboxes that can be balanced exactly to the Kodak Duratrans film material.

Bespoke Aluminium Lightboxes

At the top of the range are Bespoke Aluminium Lightboxes, boasting the sophistication and understatement of hand sprayed, powder coated Aluminium frames in virtually any size with a standard ultra slim 20mm profile. Prices and turnaround times on request.

Art-Lite

In addition to our bespoke service, we offer an economical range of standard size lightboxes, called Art-Lite. These lightboxes are built to the same high standards of colour accuracy and detail as the bespoke product but framed in a wood, rather than metal profile, either finished in black or white. Sizes are fixed but the price does include both the Duratrans and the face mounting to 3mm Clear Cast Acrylic. Clients can check test Duratrans prints prior to lightboxes being built. Turnaround time is three weeks.

Bespoke sizes are available upon request, just ask. And of course we still offer our aluminium framed bespoke boxes in custom sizes for those unique projects. Art-Lite has no maximum or minimum size.
Optional extras include aluminium frames and a dimmer module.
